Cheers to Share Collaboration at Sutlers Bar, York!

The project

The site of Sutlers Bar is a well-known one in York city centre as it was the former army and navy stores. With historic status and located on 4 floors the scope for conversion to a vibrant bar and restaurant was massive but complex. The owner required a complete top down approach and turned to 5 members of the Share Group who provided the expertise and services required for the project

PEB Moller Architects

Headed up by architect Peter Bentley the preliminary work included full planning and liaison and the building is listed and required consent at all stage of the project. Peter oversaw the planning processes for the change of ownership of the site to bar and restaurant, full planning design and layout of all floors, cellar and seating areas with operational kitchen, with project management throughout.

This completed Peter then recommended trusted Share members to provide the trades and services required on the project as the work went on site:

GRW Electrical Services

Gordon Wallis provided all electrical contracting services to the project including Power distribution,  Lighting design, Fire alarm system,  Emergency lighting with monitoring,  General alarm with key holder response, Data cabling and point of sale epos system.

Yakka UK

Chris Walker’s business specified and installed the cooling and comfort control to all areas of the back and front of house.

Time Communications

Time Communications were responsible for the installation of the BT line and VOIP telephone system with all consultancy services provided by business owner Jeff Cohen.

Liquid Indulgence

Alan Terry’s bespoke wine and beverage company recommended and supplied wines and spirits to the bar for the initial opening and continues to be the principal supplier.

Team effort

Commencing June 2016 and completed in Jan 2017 the project had a value of £1.2 million pounds including the purchase of the building, and is now one of the most successful bar restaurants in York.

Members of The Share group collaborated and worked together to make this project happen. The successful outcome is due largely to the expertise of the members and their trust in each other to schedule and deliver the skills needed at the right time and at the right budget, providing a one stop shop and single point of contact for the client.

Well done Share!!
